AI Music Policy
Last updated: 15 September 2026
1. What This Policy Covers
This policy applies to every recording, release, remix, cover, artwork file, lyric sheet, credit entry and item of metadata submitted to Lunovia Records — through the artist dashboard, through the demo form, or through a partner label integration.
It covers content that is:
- fully generated by an artificial intelligence system,
- partly generated by such a system,
- produced with AI-assisted tools, for example stem separation, mastering assistance, pitch or timing correction, or generative instrument and texture layers,
- based on a model trained on a specific voice, performance or recording,
- accompanied by AI-generated artwork, artist imagery or written material.
2. Our Position on AI in Music
Lunovia Records does not prohibit the use of artificial intelligence in music. Production tools have always changed, and we treat AI as part of that continuum rather than as a category of work that is automatically suspect.
What we require is honesty about it. Three things matter to us, in this order: that the rights in the work are genuinely yours to grant, that no real person's voice or identity is used without permission, and that what you tell us matches what you submitted. A release that satisfies those three conditions is welcome on our catalogue whether or not AI was involved in making it.
3. Disclosure Is Required
When you submit a release you must tell us whether artificial intelligence was used in creating it. This is a required field, not an optional note.
We ask for this for three practical reasons:
- stores and streaming services increasingly require the information to be passed to them, and a release that reaches them without it can be rejected or removed at their end,
- it lets us give you accurate answers if a rights question is later raised about the work,
- it allows us to route releases that need a closer look to a human reviewer rather than treating every release the same way.
A disclosure is a statement of fact about your own work. Disclosing AI involvement does not disadvantage your release in our review, and we do not treat disclosure itself as a reason for rejection.
4. Categories of Disclosure
You will be asked to select one of the following:
- No AI involvement — the recording was created by human performance and conventional production tools.
- AI-assisted — AI tools were used in production, but the core musical content (composition, performance, vocals) is human. Mastering assistants, stem separation, noise reduction, and pitch and timing correction fall here.
- AI-generated — a substantial part of the musical content itself was produced by a generative system: generated vocals, generated instrumental parts, generated composition, or a fully generated track.
Where the distinction is genuinely unclear, choose the higher category and add a short note describing what was generated. An honest approximation is always better than a confident misstatement, and we will not penalise you for over-disclosing.
5. You Remain the Rights Holder — and the Responsible Party
Using an AI tool does not change who is responsible for the rights in a work. When you submit a release you are declaring, as set out in the Terms of Service and in the rights declaration you complete at submission, that you hold or have obtained the rights necessary to distribute it.
That declaration applies to AI-assisted and AI-generated works in exactly the same way. In particular you are responsible for ensuring that:
- the tool or service you used permits commercial release of its output,
- the licence terms of that tool do not conflict with the rights you are granting us,
- any third-party recording, sample, stem, acapella or composition fed into the tool was cleared for that use,
- any human contributor whose performance was processed, separated or modelled has consented.
Nothing in this policy transfers ownership of your work to Lunovia Records. Rights in your content remain yours; distribution, licensing and revenue are governed by your separately signed artist or distribution agreement, not by this document.
6. Training Data and Third-Party Rights
We cannot verify what any given model was trained on, and we do not claim to be able to. What we do require is that you do not submit a work whose creation you know, or reasonably ought to know, infringed someone else's rights.
The following are not acceptable:
- training or fine-tuning a model on a specific artist's catalogue in order to release material in that artist's style and market it as, or in a way likely to be confused with, that artist,
- using unlicensed commercial recordings as training input for a release you then distribute,
- using a tool whose terms prohibit commercial release, and releasing the output anyway,
- presenting generated material as an authorised recording of a person or group when it is not.
Where a work legitimately draws on a genre, era or general style, that is ordinary creative practice and this section does not restrict it.
7. Voice, Likeness and Impersonation
A recognisable human voice may not be recreated, cloned or simulated without that person's permission. This is the line we treat most seriously in this policy, because the harm falls on a person rather than on a catalogue.
Specifically, you must not submit material that:
- uses a model of a named artist's voice without documented permission,
- is presented in a way that suggests a real artist performed on or endorsed the release when they did not,
- uses a deceased artist's voice or likeness without authorisation from the estate or rights holder,
- imitates a real person's speaking voice in order to attribute statements to them,
- uses AI-generated imagery of a real person on artwork or in promotional material without consent.
Where you do have permission, keep the documentation. We may ask for it — see the rights-documentation process described in the Anti-Fraud & Platform Integrity Policy.
8. AI and Cover Art
Artwork generated with AI is permitted, subject to the same conditions as the recording: you must hold the rights needed to use it commercially, it must not reproduce third-party trade marks, logos, album covers or protected characters, and it must not depict a real person without consent.
Artwork must also meet our ordinary technical and content requirements, and must correspond to the release it accompanies.
9. Metadata for AI-Assisted Releases
Credits and metadata must describe the work accurately.
- Do not credit a generative tool as a performing artist in the primary artist field. The artist field identifies the act releasing the work.
- Where a human wrote, performed or produced part of the work, credit them.
- Where a work is fully generated, do not attribute a performance to a person who did not perform.
- Do not use artist, title or version fields to signal AI involvement as a marketing device in a way that is misleading, for example by implying an authorised collaboration that does not exist.
Metadata submitted for AI-assisted releases is reviewed in the same way as all other metadata, and the same accuracy declaration applies.
10. Store and Platform Requirements
Streaming services and digital stores set their own rules on AI-generated content, and those rules change. A release that satisfies this policy may still be rejected, restricted or removed by a store under its own policy, and Lunovia Records cannot override a store's decision about its own service.
Where a store notifies us of an issue with one of your releases, we will pass on what we are permitted to pass on and, where a response is possible, tell you what is needed.
11. What This Policy Does Not Cover
This document is about the music and materials you submit to us.
It is not a description of the software tools Lunovia Records uses internally to run the platform. Where we use any third-party service to process data in the course of our own operations, that is described separately and specifically in our Privacy Policy and, for users in Türkiye, in the KVKK Disclosure Statement. Those documents are the authoritative statement on that subject and should not be read together with this one as though they described the same thing.
Two points are worth stating plainly here nonetheless:
- We do not use artist recordings, unreleased material, lyrics, artwork or personal data to train artificial intelligence models, and we do not licence them to third parties for that purpose.
- Decisions that materially affect you are made by people. Acceptance and rejection of releases, rights and ownership questions, takedowns, payouts, contractual decisions and account closures are human decisions. Where an automated check is involved, it produces a flag for review; it does not produce the outcome.
12. Inaccurate Disclosure
An inaccurate disclosure is treated according to what caused it.
- A mistake — selecting the wrong category, forgetting to mention a tool, misjudging where the boundary sits — is a correction, not a breach. Tell us and we will update the record.
- A knowingly false declaration, particularly one that conceals an unlicensed voice model or unauthorised third-party material, is a breach of these terms and is handled under the Anti-Fraud & Platform Integrity Policy.
Where a false declaration is identified, the measures available to us include requesting documentation, pausing a release, restricting distribution, removing content and, in serious or repeated cases, restricting or closing an account. Those measures, and the review process that precedes them, are described in the Terms of Service and in the Anti-Fraud & Platform Integrity Policy. This policy does not create any measure beyond those already provided for in those documents and in your artist or distribution agreement.
A review is not a finding. Being asked about a release does not mean we have concluded that anything is wrong.
13. Questions, Corrections and Reports
If you need to correct a disclosure, ask whether a particular tool or workflow is acceptable, or report a release you believe uses your voice, performance or catalogue without permission, contact us through the contact form or by email. Reports about voice or likeness are handled as rights matters and follow the process in the Anti-Fraud & Platform Integrity Policy.
If you are an artist and your account is affected by a decision under this policy, you can also reach us from within your dashboard.
14. Changes to This Policy
Artificial intelligence, store requirements and applicable law are all changing quickly, and this policy will be updated as they do. The version number, effective date and last updated date are published at the top of this page. Where a change materially affects your obligations, we will give notice in the way described in the Terms of Service.
